Research on yoga and scoliosis

Carol's note:
I found no medical research on yoga and scoliosis, but bear with me a moment. Elise Browning-Miller is a well-known yoga teacher who has used yoga for 30 years to help her own scoliosis. Elise was diagnosed when she was 15 years old with a 49 degree right thoracic curve and compensating left lumbar curve. In 2006, she said her scoliosis now measures a curve "in the 30s." I trained with Elise in Dallas, Texas during the fall of 2006 and in California in 2008. You can see her web site at: http://www.yogaforscoliosis.com/elise.html

And, from a Bozeman student, I offer the following comment:

"I just started doing Yoga with Carol  Flaherty-six sessions to be exact!  I have scoliosis. Most of my back is fused, though I have some movement in my neck and lower lumbar.  I just completed a Rolfing series and felt this was the next road to take in transforming my body.  After only three weeks I could feel a difference.  I no longer needed my pillows between my legs and under my neck at night.  I was getting a restful sleep without repositioning all night.  My short side has begun to lengthen out and I am gaining more space in my lungs, arms, and groin area.  This is life changing for me. I can't wait to see how far I can go.  Thank you Carol." And thank you Robyn Cavaness for this note written 7/14/2011.
