Conclusions: Integrated approach of yoga therapy can improve hot flushes and night sweats. It also can improve cognifive functions such as remote memory, mental balance, attention and concentration, delayed and immediate recall, verbal retention and recognition tests. (Note: Study funded by Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation, Bangalore, India)

Robert R. Freedman, Suzanne Woodward, Behavioral treatment of menopausal hot flushes: Evaluation by ambulatory monitoring.  American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, August 1992; 167(2):436-9. Conclusion: Paced respiration training (cf note: pattern used was classic pranayama, though not defined as such) may be a useful treatment alternative for the reduction of hot flushes in women who cannot tolerate hormone replacement therapy.
